One of the distinctive types of tuberculous osteomyelitis is the cystic form. It mainly develops during childhood and affects the long bones. It is usually multifocal, but recently it seems to occur predominantly at a single site. A case is presented of unifocal cystic tuberculous osteomyelitis in a child. It was suspected on the basis of radiological evidence and clinical history and was confirmed by the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis upon biopsy of the lesions.
