Diverticulosis of the small intestine is a rare entity which primarily affects the jejunum, with its least common affectation being that of the distal ilium. Its most frequent complications are inflammation and perforation. Presented is a case of ileal diverticulitis with septic thrombosis (pylephlebitis) of the superior mesenteric vein (SMV) diagnosed by means of computerized tomography (CT) and anatomopathologically confirmed. The literature pertinent to these two pathologies is reviewed.
