Summary

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disease of difficult treatment. Our study aims to evaluate the efficacy of hydrokinesitherapy in its treatment as well as to compare the results of the treatment with amitryptiline versus dexketoprofen-trometamol.

A prospective study of 50 patients who received treatment by hydrokinesitherapy for one month was carried out. They were randomly divided into two groups of 25. One group received treatment with amitryptiline and the other with dexketoprofen-trometamol. Age, gender, disease evolution time, and the Impact Questionnaire for Fibromyalgia performed in the patients before and after the treatment were assessed for the study.

The mean age of the patients was 44 ± 6,5 (SD) years. 98% were women. Significant differences were found in all the parameters of the questionnaire except for the number of days that they were well and work absenteeism. No differences were found according to the drug treatment used.

Conclusions

1. Hydrokinesitherapy is useful for the treatment of fibromyalgia. 2. No differences are found according to the drug treatment used.
