Resumen

Introducción

las escalas de resultados para personas mayors HoNOS65+ (Health of the Nation Outcome Scales for Older Adults) se componen de 12 escalas que evalúan diversos problemas físicos y psicosociales de las personas mayores de 65 años que presentan un problema de salud mental. Estas escalas pueden emplearse de manera rutinaria en un contexto clínico y son un instrumento útil para medir el progreso, el cambio o la evolución de las personas mayores.

El objetivo del trabajo que aquí se presenta es traducir las HoNOS65+ al castellano y estudiar sus propiedades psicométricas (fiabilidad y validez).

Material y métodos

se realizó una traducción de las HoNOS65+ al castellano, siguiendo el método de traducción inversa. Posteriormente, se entrevistó a 250 personas mayores de 65 años, usuarios de 10 servicios para mayores de la Comunidad de Madrid y se les administraron las HoNOS65+, así como otras pruebas que evaluaban constructos similares. A continuación, se analizó la fiabilidad (consistencia interna, interjueces) y la validez (concurrente, de constructo).

Resultados

la versión española de las HoNOS65+ presenta buenas propiedades psicométricas en cuanto a fiabilidad y validez se refiere.

Conclusiones

la versión española HoNOS65+ fue aprobada y puede obtenerse en la página web del Colegio Oficial de Psiquiatras Británico (www.rcpsych.ac.uk).

Introduction

the Health of the Nation Outcome Scales for Older Adults (HoNOS65+) consists of 12 scales that measure the health and psychosocial problems of older adults with a mental health problem. These scales can be used routinely in clinical settings and are a useful instrument to assess outcomes in older adults.

The aim of this study was to translate the HoNOS65+ into Spanish and to determine the reliability and validity of the Spanish version of the HoNOS65+.

Material and methods

the English HoNOS65+ version was translated into Spanish, using the back translation method. The sample was drawn from older adults attending 10 services for the elderly in the autonomous community of Madrid and 250 people were assessed using the HoNOS65+ and other more detailed and domainspecific scales. Reliability (internal consistency, inter-rater reliability) and validity (concurrent, construct) were examined.

Results

the Spanish version of the HoNOS65+ shows good psychometric properties in terms of reliability and validity.

Conclusions

the official Spanish HoNOS65+ version was accepted by the Royal College of Psychiatrists and can be freely downloaded (www.rcpsych.ac.uk).
