Summary

Alzheimer's disease not only affects the patient suffering from it but also has a significant effect on his/her family. It is mostly the family caregivers who have a 24-hour period dedication looking after these patients.

These caregivers can be considered first order health care elements because of their facet as care and attention providers in the different areas required by the disease. However, they also are a socio-health care risk group because carrying out this assistance has an important impact on their biopsychosocial health.

The care given by the family caregiver group, also called hidden patients or victims, must also be approached from a broad point of view.

In this article, a series of intervention proposals is presented within a broad and diversified approach to socio-health care for this group.
