La conducción autónoma es uno de los temas más interesantes dentro del área de los Sistemas Inteligentes de Transporte (ITS) y dentro de ella, el control automático del volante es uno de los retos más importantes al que se enfrentan investigadores de esta área. En este trabajo se presenta un ajuste basado en algoritmos genéticos de controladores difusos capaces de manejar automáticamente el volante de un vehículo convencional, reproduciendo actitudes de un conductor humano en diferentes situaciones. Para ello se ha monitorizado el estado del coche mientras es conducido por un humano y por medio de algoritmos genéticos se ha obtenido un controlador difuso apropiado para el manejo del volante del vehículo. Todo ello teniendo en cuenta dos requisitos básicos: el controlador debe ser capaz de manejar el vehículo a través de una ruta prefijada y ejecutar acciones de control suaves, para lograr así, una conducción confortable para los ocupantes del vehículo.
