We perform an analysis of the situation of locoregional recurrences after surgery for rectal carcinoma. The admitted rate must be between 2 and 10%. Only studies of series with these results can contribute to the analysis of the importance of the different factors implicated, as they are risk factors, follow up and appropriate diagnosis and effective therapeutic procedures.

We remark thagt an early diagnosis, a proper surgical operation and adjuvant therapy are necessary to reduce and even make disappear this significant problem, which is considered to be the cause of dearh in a high number of patients.
