We present the case of an anorexic female patient who presented with considerable weight loss and the presence of blood and mucus in the stools of 1 year’s evolution. Clinical, morphological and histopathological features were compatible with solitary rectal ulcer syndrome. This syndrome encompasses a group of diseases characterized by similar clinical features, and its diagnosis is based on histopathological features. The patient responded well to surgical treatment. Thus, in our view, surgery is a good alternative in the patients who do not respond satisfactorily to conservative treatment.
