A 63-year-old male with a history of toxic chronic pancreatitis with cystic dystrophy of the duodenum required placement of a metallic biliary stent and successive repermeabilisation with a plastic prosthesis. He came to the emergency room 11 months later due to symptoms of diffuse abdominal pain and fever that had been progressing over the course of the previous 2 days. Lab work showed elevated acute phase reactants. Abdominal CT scan detected the plastic biliary stent located in the cecal appendix, with signs of acute appendicitis (Fig. 1). Appendectomy was performed by laparotomy (Fig. 2) with confirmation of the radiological findings.
