Tumors of the ampulla of Vater are rare, and their treatment usually involves pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD).
In selected cases of benign lesions, such as adenomas or carcinoma in situ, resection of the ampullary tumor could be an alternative, and PD should be carried out depending on the pathology results.
We present the case of a 78-year-old patient diagnosed with jaundice from a well-defined solid nodular tumor in the ampulla of Vater. A laparoscopic transduodenal ampullectomy with choledochoscopy was performed. The postoperative course was correct, and the definitive pathology result was compatible with adenoma.
