Radiation-induced angiosarcoma of the breast (<0.05% of malignant breast disease) affects middle-aged women with a history of radiation therapy of the breast. It presents as violet-colored lesions, with a mean latency period of 6 years. The only curative treatment is surgery, and mastectomy is the most widely used technique. The rate of recurrence is high (52%–94%) as the lesions are often multifocal, usually occurring in the first year. Despite the use of aggressive treatments, the prognosis is poor, with an overall survival between 10.8 and 33 months, and a 5-year survival close to 20% (Fig. 1).
