In recent years, we have witnessed a new revolution, the so-called digital revolution, which has had a huge impact on the development of General and Digestive Surgery. Thirty-five years ago, laparoscopic surgery brought about the last great innovation in abdominal surgery, making a real breakthrough in routine practice. However, digital technology has progressed spectacularly in recent years as a result of advancements made in computing power and speed, leading to new applications that complement and improve the usefulness of this technology. This digitalization directly affects all phases of the surgical procedure. Preoperative data is analyzed to facilitate diagnosis and preoperative preparation, which assists the surgeon when selecting the best surgical approach, while minimizing errors and guiding the surgeon during surgery. During the postoperative period, this analysis helps us monitor our patients more efficiently, reducing postoperative complications.
