Note for “Ramsay Hunt syndrome and mRNA SARS-COV-2 vaccination”

We would like to thank Mungmunpuntipantip and Wiwanitkit for the interest their letter¹ showed in our article.²

We should clarify that, in that article, we did not mention eye symptoms as side effects of SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, nor did we cite autoimmunity as a possible cause.

We merely reported a case of Ramsay Hunt syndrome seen in our department and put forward SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-induced immunomodulation as what might have caused it. We also mentioned the low likelihood of developing this disease, or Bell's palsy or herpes zoster, after being vaccinated against SARS-CoV-2 or other viruses. Therefore, ultimately, we would like to stress the importance of global vaccination against COVID-19 at this time.
