Más datosThe aim of this study was to understand experiences and coping of cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy. Semi-structured, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 30 cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy who stayed in Indonesia Cancer Foundation. The interviews were conducted continuously until data saturation was achieved. All Interviews were recorded, and transcribed using conventional content analysis. As a result of analysis, the data were categorized into 5 main themes including ‘feeling of health condition, ‘symptom of cancer’, ‘hope after radiotherapy’, ‘family support’, and ‘spirituality’. Furthermore, participants described that after they were diagnosed cancer, their role changed and they focused to cope with cancer and its treatment. They received support from family and social circles. Present findings emphasize that patients with cancer facing challenges from being diagnosed and when receiving cancer treatment. Family support and spirituality are values that reinforce the patients to cope better with cancer and its treatment.
