These studies have shown that the process of construction and adaptation of an instrument must be carried out in a thorough manner and thus provide the scientific community with a valid and reliable tool for future research. The validity of an instrument indicates the degree of precision it has to measure whatever (a concept or theoretical construct) is to be measured,1 which can be analyzed through various techniques or statistical methods. Thus, having read with interest the article recently published by Navarro-Albarracín et al.,2 regarding the “Spanish validation of the Exercise Therapy Burden Questionnaire (ETBQ) for the assessment of barriers associated to doing physical therapy for the treatment of chronic illness”, I wish to make a few comments.

In the first place, it is generally accepted that in an initial stage of the construction and validation process of an instrument for the measurement of concepts, an analysis of construct validity is carried out through an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) where the researcher analyzes the data in order to identify the number of factors of an instrument and the items that potentially correspond to each factor based on their factorial weights.3 This procedure is based on the assumption that the data matrix is suitable for the extraction of factors (Káiser–Meyer–Olkin index; KMO≥0.8; Bartlett's sphericity test<0.05) as reported in a paper published in Medicina Clínica.4 Thus, based on a one-dimensional instrument, the authors of the article in question affirm the identification of three factors, but they do not report the results of the KMO and Barlett index, nor the new structure of the instrument with the respective factorial weights of the items.

Secondly, the summary states that the sample consisted of 177 patients with different chronic diseases and in the results it mentioned that there were 167 patients. This constitutes an error of writing (involuntary) that can be understood initially as a formality or irrelevant, however, I consider that stating two different numbers can generate confusion in the readers and raise suspicion that the results of the work have not been communicated properly, and consequently affect the perception of the quality of the article. In this sense it is important to maintain the unity of the scientific discourse, because clarity and conciseness must be characteristic of medical language.5

These comments are not intended to minimize the work done by the authors, but to raise some issues that should be considered in future research that focus on the adaptation, translation or validation of measurement instruments.
Conflict of interests
The author declares no conflict of interests.
" "textoCompletoSecciones" => array:1 [ "secciones" => array:2 [ 0 => array:2 [ "identificador" => "sec0005" "titulo" => "Conflict of interests" ] 1 => array:1 [ "titulo" => "References" ] ] ] "pdfFichero" => "main.pdf" "tienePdf" => true "bibliografia" => array:2 [ "titulo" => "References" "seccion" => array:1 [ 0 => array:2 [ "identificador" => "bibs0015" "bibliografiaReferencia" => array:5 [ 0 => array:3 [ "identificador" => "bib0030" "etiqueta" => "1" "referencia" => array:1 [ 0 => array:2 [ "contribucion" => array:1 [ 0 => array:2 [ "titulo" => "Validación de cuestionarios" "autores" => array:1 [ 0 => array:2 [ "etal" => false "autores" => array:3 [ 0 => "M.J.
