El objetivo de este trabajoconsistió en analizar el consumo de alimentos y nutrientes y la obesidad en relación con elconsumo de tabaco en la población catalana.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Sujetos y método</span><p id="spar0010" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Se estudió una muestra representativa de la población catalana de 1.774 individuosde 18 a 64 años de ambos sexos. Se evaluó el estado nutricional mediante indicadoresantropométricos, así como el consumo de alimentos con dos recordatorios de 24 h. Tambiénse utilizaron un cuestionario sobre consumo de tabaco y un cuestionario de frecuenciasemicuantitativo para evaluar el consumo de alcohol.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Resultados</span><p id="spar0015" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Los varones no fumadores consumían más derivados lácteos que los fumadores, ymás frutas y frutos secos que los fumadores y ex fumadores. Las mujeres no fumadoras consumíanmás aves, frutas y menos dulces que las fumadoras y ex fumadoras. En ambos sexos, losfumadores ingerían más alcohol. Respecto a los nutrientes, los fumadores consumían menos fibraque los no fumadores y el consumo de la energía procedente de lípidos y ácidos grasos saturadosy monoinsaturados fue mayor.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Conclusiones</span><p id="spar0020" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">La dieta de los fumadores tiene un perfil alimentario y nutricional menos saludable,lo que podría potenciar el riesgo del tabaco relacionado con la aparición de ciertos cánceresy enfermedad cardiovascular.</p>" ] "en" => array:1 [ "resumen" => "<span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Background</span><p id="spar0025" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">It is well known that smoking and some nutritional habits are two of the most importantrisk factors for the development of certain cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Thepurpose of this study is to assess the food and nutrient consumption in relation to smoking inthe Catalan population, Spain.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Subjects and method</span><p id="spar0030" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">A representative sample of the Catalan population of 1774 people aged18 to 64 years from both sexes. Nutritional status was evaluated using selected anthropometricalindexes, and food consumption with two 24-hour recall. Questionnaires about smoking consumptionand a semiquantitative frequency questionnaire about alcohol consumption were alsoadministered.</p> <span class="elsevierStyleSectionTitle">Results</span><p id="spar0035" class="elsevierStyleSimplePara elsevierViewall">Male non smokers consumed more dairy products than smokers, and more fruits andnuts than smokers and ex-smokers. Female non-smokers consumed more chicken, fruits andless sweets than smokers and ex-smokers.
