Dolor neuropático periférico en rehabilitación. Revisión y puesta al día de su tratamiento

Objective. Neuropathic pain may be difficult to recognize, if its presence in several not rare conditions in Rehabilitation is not considered. Special rehabilitation treatment must be applied to each one of the pictures that the patient has, while we treat the neuropathic pain. A novelty in this treatment is the appearance of a new drug, pregabaline (PBG) that may mean an advance for the treatment of our patients. Search strategy. Its prevalence in Primary Care and its presence in frequent conditions in Rehabilitation were collected. Clinical trials with pregabaline (PGB) carried out in a large number of patients were reviewed, assessing the efficacy and safety results. Conclusions. It seems to be deduced from this that PGB may represent an advance in the treatment of neuropathic pain in Rehabilitation. Its efficacy goes beyond analgesia, since it includes a solid improvement not only of the pain but also of the sleep architecture and anxiety. Thus, this improves the patient's incapacity and quality of life.
