The Colombian Association of Psychiatry, the Publications Committee and the Editorial Board of the Revista Colombiana de Psiquiatría take pride in presenting this year's Issue 2, on the new platform and accompanied by Elsevier, the largest medical and scientific literature publisher in the world. The collaboration of this prestigious publishing company, which has more than 125 years of experience and subsidiaries all around the globe, guarantees us that this journal will achieve standards of quality equal to those of the foremost Spanish and Latin American journals in the field.
We have been witness to the thoroughness, responsibility and dedication all those involved in the publication have brought to bear to keep the transition to our new phase from changing existing commitments, especially those to the authors and our readers.
Psychiatry in Colombia finds itself in a period of transformation of standard practice, applying knowledge imported without due review and reflection, in a situation in which introducing clinical research leads to creating knowledge that affects our most important mental health problems. In a recent conversation with fellows during their national convention, they insisted on including this component in their programmes and on the need to acquire the writing skills to be able to publish. The country's 14 psychiatric programmes need to implement these training elements, for which we will have an unsurpassable means of dissemination.
The visibility of the journal and its authors will be greater, making it possible to standardise and compare contributions appropriately. The list of reference databases that already index our journal — including, among others, Scielo, Lilacs and Ebsco — will soon expand with the addition of ISI Thomson and Scopus, which we will confirm when the process is complete.
For all these reasons, we once more invite national and international authors to continue relying on the Revista Colombiana de Psiquiatría in submitting their article proposals. Likewise, we urge them to encourage their colleagues and fellows to participate in doing so, in the benefit of our work.
