Abstract

Plantar plate injuries are a common condition on the forefoot, especially in middle aged women, causing a sometimes very intense metatarsalgia. In most cases it is secondary to a mechanical imbalance of the forefoot, related to a first ray insufficiency. It has an evolving character and there is a close relationship between Anatomical Pathology of the deformity and the patient's medical history. The treatment, whether conservative or surgical, will depend on the state of the injury and must restore the normal way of putting weight on the forefoot and correct its deformities.
