Abstract

The authors report a case of a large mandibular unicystic ameloblastoma in a 17 year old male. Surgical management included a segmental resection and reconstruction using posterior iliac crest bone graft, with good morphologic and functional outcome. No recurrence observed in a 7 year period follow-up. Treatment of ameloblastoma is a surgeon's dilemma. The authors analyse therapeutic options and remember that histologic characterization is mandatory and that mural lesions deserve more aggressive treatments.
