More infoDementia is a progressive decline in cognitive abilities characterized by memory loss. Elderly with dementia are often considered to be unable to determine the nursing services that fit their needs. This study aims to finding out the support needed by elderly with dementia during staying in LTC institutions. This study is a descriptive phenomenology. The data in this study was analyzed by using a structured and specific analysis method developed by Moustakas that modifying by Stevick-Colaizzi-Keen. The results of this study show that elderly with mild to moderate dementia have ability to share their experiences in getting the holistic supports, including bio-psycho-socio and spiritual needs. Holistic supports can help elderly with mild to moderate dementia to maintain their abilities and improve their quality of life. LTC institution needs to improve the quality and quantity of caregivers’ team to maximize their holistic support for elderly with dementia.
