Article information

Eikenella corrodens is a gramnegative anerobic coccobacillus, difficult to isolate. It is present in the respiratory mucosa of healthy subjects. It may also be found in other sites. It is commonly involved in local infections after human or canine bite. On rare occasions, abscesses have been described in different organs and even bacteriemia. A case will be presented of an apparently healthy patient in whom the reason for the medical visit is a non-productive cough having months of evolution and in which the examination detected an abdominal mass.
