La tumefacción facial es un hallazgo frecuente tras la extracción deuna pieza dental. Entre las causas más frecuentes que la producen seencuentran las reacciones anafilácticas, las infecciones o los hemato-mas. Otra causa poco frecuente, pero que hay que incluir en el diag-nóstico diferencial es el enfisema subcutáneo.

A continuación describimos un caso de enfisema subcutáneo y neu-momediastino tras la extracción de un cordal.

Facial swelling is common after tooth extraction. The most frequentcauses include anaphylactic reactions, infections and hematomas. Sub-cutaneous emphysema, although rarely involved, must be included inthe differential diagnosis.

We report a case of subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum after extraction of a crown tooth.
