Breast radiology: New horizons in times of pandemics

In spite of the uncertain times we are living in, the editorial team at Radiología has not shied away from setting itself new challenges in its quest to evolve and continually improve. After several years of not producing supplements dedicated to Special Issues of our journal due to the economic crisis, we are now going to reintroduce them. To relaunch this enterprise, we have chosen breast imaging, always an interesting and topical area.
With the invaluable help of Dr Luis Pina Insausti, area editor for breast imaging and author of the introduction, we have designed an extremely useful and practical Special Issue covering very novel aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of breast disorders, as well as the rational use of our procedures.
This expands the scope of the training provided by the journal, upholding its commitment to the continuous development required by our speciality. Our aim is to reach the majority of, if not all radiologists, while achieving two goals at the same time: increasing the visibility of the science and, from a strategic point of view, also that of the journal.
We must highlight the generosity of the Elsevier publishing house for enabling the free publication of two Special Issues for 2022, the first being the one presented here.
As Cervantes said, “Good deeds never lack a reward”. We therefore thank all the authors, the panel of reviewers and the rest of the members of the journal’s Editorial Committee for their efforts in bringing this issue to fruition.
