It is a challenge that I take on with both pride and excitement, as I never imagined getting this far. My connections with the magazine began with a clinical case report I sent as a Radiodiagnosis resident. Subsequently, I was lucky enough to become part of the Editorial Committee led by Dr. García Santos, running the evidence-based Radiology section (2012–2019) and enjoying the Dr. Calatayud Scientific Editorial Grant in 2015.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0005"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">1</span></a> After a brief interval during which I undertook other personal projects, I am honoured that the Board of Directors of SERAM thought of me to run RADIOLOGÍA, the voice of our scientific society. Dr. Rovira (head of publications from May 2014 to May 2022) had the job making me the offer, and I had no hesitation in accepting it. For all professionals involved in the publishing world, it is a source of pride and satisfaction to run a scientific journal. There is also the nice coincidence that for the first time a woman will occupy this position. In general, the percentage of women as top editors of scientific journals is quite low.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRefs" href="#bib0010"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">2,3</span></a> But I will reserve that topic for another editorial. As well as being excited, I am taking on this challenge with a great sense of responsibility. RADIOLOGÍA is currently a growing journal, as Dr. Ros discusses in his farewell editorial.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0020"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">4</span></a> In addition to consolidating our past achievements, there are many lines of work we plan to develop in the coming years. My first task is to thank the Editorial Committee for the great welcome they have given me. Practically all its members will accompany me in this new stage, where we will be joined by other new professionals who have accepted my invitation. The different sections of the Sociedad Española de Radiología Médica (SERAM) [Spanish Society of Medical Radiology] will continue to be represented in the Editorial Committee through their area editors. In addition, an Editorial Advisory Committee will be formed whose members will be in charge of the cross-curricular aspects of the journal, such as editorial training, educational articles and social networks. We will all work together on the journal's contents, in the development of supplements and series, and on improving editorial times. RADIOLOGÍA will continue supporting educational content, publishing updates and imaging review articles thanks to which all our SERAM member readers will be able to continue obtaining continuing education credits granted by the Consejo Profesional Médico Español de Acreditación para Formación Médica Continuada/Desarrollo Profesional Continuado (DPC/FMC) (SEAFORMEC) [Spanish Medical Professional Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Professional Development (CPD/CME)]. Editorial training will continue to be an important part of the journal. In addition to the Dr. Calatayud scientific editorial grants (for registrars and residents), webinars will be organised on different editorial aspects, such as “How to review a scientific article” and “Formal aspects for submitting a manuscript”. For two years now, RADIOLOGÍA has had its own space within the SERAM<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0025"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">5</span></a> website which is already up and running thanks to Dr. Eiroa and Dr. Merino. Over the next few years, our aim is to keep filling the website with content, expanding the journal’s general information with different editorial training resources, and with spaces aimed at residents and students. RADIOLOGÍA also needs to adapt to the new ways of distributing scientific information, enhancing its presence on social networks. Although it already has a Twitter profile<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0030"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">6</span></a>, we need to create dissemination strategies and develop our own content to keep gaining more followers. One of the strategies is to create visual abstracts, which many scientific journals are using to disseminate their articles. Once we consolidate ourselves in that social network, we could consider making the leap to others with a professional profile, such as LinkedIn.<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0035"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">7</span></a> Continuing the internationalisation of the journal is another challenge. In addition to regular collaborations with the journal of the Colegio Interamericano de Radiología (CIR) [Inter-American College of Radiology] and with GoRAD, we will also have our presence in the Revista Virtual de Radiología [Virtual Journal of Radiology] run by Dr. Lojo<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0040"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">8</span></a> and a special collaboration with the European Diploma in Radiology (EDiR),<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#bib0045"><span class="elsevierStyleSup">9</span></a> which will come to fruition thanks to Dr. Oleaga. RADIOLOGÍA will reserve a space to publish content which helps towards the preparation of the European exam. All these things are already in motion. But there are still more, many more that will continue to emerge over the years. Thank-you to SERAM for trusting in me. Thanks to Dr. García Santos (editor-in-chief 2006–2018) and to Dr. Ros (editor-in-chief 2018–2022), my predecessors in the position, for their commitment and hard work in improving the quality of the magazine.
