Resumen
Objetivos

Identificar y describir los ensayos clínicos aleatorizados, publicados en la revista Rehabilitación entre los años 1989–1999.

Métodos

Todos los artículos originales publicados en ese período, fueron revisados por dos investigadores independientes y se distribuyeron en cinco grupos: Ensayos Clínicos, estudios básico-experimentales con animales de laboratorio, epidemiológicos, clínico-diagnósticos y otros. Se realizó una descripción de los ensayos clínicos (estudios experimentales en seres humanos).

Resultados

Se identificaron 376 artículos originales, de los cuales 44 (12%) eran del grupo ensayo clínico, 13 (3%) investigación básica-experimental con animales de laboratorio, 256 (58%) epidemiológicos, 42 (11%) clínico-diagnóstico y 21 (6%) incluidos en otros. El 60% pertenecen al primer período y el 40% al segundo. Aleatorizado 20%, controlado 43%, enmascaramiento 9%, consentimiento informado 5%, con fármacos el 25%, más de 50 participantes el 30%.

Conclusión

Se realizan y publican pocos ensayos clínicos en nuestra especialidad y encontramos graves deficiencias en la información comunicada.

Objectives

Identify and describe the randomized clinical trials published in the journal of Rehabilitation between the years 1989–1999.

Methods

All of the original articles published in this period were reviewed by two independent investigators and distributed into five groups: clinical trials, basic-experimental studies with laboratory animals, epidemiological studies, clinical-diagnostic studies and others. A description was made of the clinical trials (experimental studies in human beings).

Results

376 original articles were identified; 44 (12%) of them were within the clinical trial group, 13 (3%) basic-experimental investigation with laboratory animals, 256 (58%) epidemiologic, 42 (11%) clinical-diagnostic and 21 (6%) were included in others. 60% belonged to the first period and 40% to the second; 20% were randomized, 43% controlled, 9% blinded, 5% informed consent, 25% with drugs, and 30% had more than 50 participant.

Conclusion

Few clinical trials are carried out and published in our specialty and we find serious deficiencies in the information communicated.
