In relation to your comment, I fully agree that the routine use of magnetic resonance imaging in the study of anterior knee pain can increase the expenditure of healthcare systems. Nevertheless, the article does not aim to establish the use of magnetic resonance imaging as a dogma or guideline; rather, the intention is to assess the usefulness of this test in the diagnosis of patellar malalignment. The final conclusion is that it does indeed help to increase the diagnostic accuracy of associated lesions, especially in the cartilage. Moreover, it also enables a detailed measurement of all the parameters assessed routinely in radiographs and computed tomography scans.
