Con su aparición en el mercado en el año 1996 los audífonos digitales han ido gradualmente ocupando un papel fundamental en el ámbito escolar y más concretamente reeducativo de los niños con deficiencies auditivas, ya que las mejoras subjetivas que aportan estas prótesis son muy superiores a las de tecnología analógica.
En el presente trabajo se recoge la experiencia realizada por nuestro centro con un grupo de 15 niños sordos severos y profundos, a partir de la adaptación de unos audífonos digitales Widex y su posterior seguimiento durante cinco meses, para corroborar sus efectos tanto sobre el rendimiento protésico como en la producción fonética de los usuarios. De la labor realizada, también se deducen una serie de consideraciones, a nuestro juicio muy interesantes, respecto al uso y a las posibilidades reales de los audífonos digitales.
Since their introduction into the market in 1996, digital hearing aids have gradually played a more and more fundamental role in the fields of school and particularly in the reeducation of children with hearing loss, as the subjective improvements these prostheses yield are more important than those of analog technology.
In this paper, there is a description of an experience carried out in our centre with a group of 15 children with severe-to-profound hearing losses, starting with the adaptation of some Widex digital hearing aids and their consequent follow-up for five months, in order to corroborate their effects both on prosthetic performance and speech production of users.
Some considerations, very interesting in our opinion, spring from our work concerning the use and real possibilities of digital hearing aids.
