At the time when there are so many journals in biomedical science, Annals of Hepatology is growing fast. Indeed, only two years after starting with this new journal. I am very please to inform you that Annals of Hepatology was reviewed by the National Library of Medicine Committee in October, 2003 and received a score between 3.5 and 3.9, the equivalent of “very good”. The Library will cite and index Annals of Hepatology in Index Medicus and Medline. Also is worthwhile to know that Annals of Hepatology has been included at the European Copernicus Index, Free Medical Journal and the Latin American Biomedical Index.
We believed that our journal has a very important role not only in Mexican Hepatology, but also for all Latin American countries and we are sure that in the near future for the Western and other countries. The field of liver diseases in recent years is also growing rapidly. At this time chronic viral hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and its complications, liver transplantation as well as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease are the main topics in clinical and basic research.
On the other hand, the inclusion of Annals of Hepatology in the Index Medicus and Medline will serve to cover the needs of hepatologists, gastroenterologists, internists and surgeons, we expect an increase in publish good clinical and basic studies carefully selected in 2004.
Finally, I would like to thank Claudio Tiribelli for his outstanding contribution writing Highlights in Hepatology and for giving the opportunity to interact with each other proposing some interesting ideas for improving the quality of Annals of Hepatology.
As editor of the journal. I look forward for your collaboration in this year. At the same time, I will continue working to serve with energy and enthusiasm.
