Summary

Rupture of a splenic artery aneurysm during pregnancy is a rare but serious condition. Emergency caesarean section and splenectomy are mandatory. The clinical presentation is abdominal pain, hypotension and anaemia. This is deceiving to the obstetrician as it can simulate other conditions, such as uterine rupture or placental abruption.
