Nurse's turnover rate in Indonesia ranges from 13 to 35%. This study aims to identify nurse's retention strategies through exploring the nurse's experience in deciding to stay at Hospital X.
MethodThis research used qualitative research with a phenomenology approach. The information was gathered through an in-depth interview. Data were analyzed using theme analysis.
ResultsNurse's workload at this hospital is high, but it does not hesitate them to stay at the hospital. Nurse prioritize the patient's needs over theirs, strengthen them to stay at this hospital. Above all, in line with this religious-affiliated hospital's mission, nurses decide to stay because they feel that their work is a form of their devotion to God.
ConclusionNurturing nurse's spirituality and building conducive working conditions could be considered as an effective strategy to retain nurses to stay within the hospital.
