Más datosThis study aims to investigate health literacy instruments explicitly developed for use in the elderly population with chronic disease.
MethodsThis is a literature review to identify the articles from the following databases: PubMed, EBSCO, Proquest, and Willey Online Library published from January 1971 to December 2019. PICO elements are used to guide the searching process.
Result9 articles met the inclusion criteria. Five instruments were developed to measure health literacy in the general concept of chronic disease; meanwhile, four other measures HL in diabetes and hypertension.
ConclusionThis review has not been able to identify the quality of the instrument and the best tool to use in measuring health literacy in the elderly with chronic disease. However, this review can describe several instruments that can be used for the elderly population with chronic disease.
