Studies transcultural nursing with diabetes mellitus: Literature review

Abstract

Objective

To describe and assess studies of transcultural nursing interventions in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM).

Method

This was a literature review that was carried out by searching for literature on six databases. To identify studies reported in English, published the last ten years, full text on transcultural nursing interventions in patients with DM.

Results

There were three educational interventions, three behavioral and lifestyle change interventions, and one culturally adjusted family-based DM intervention.

Conclusion

Cultural appropriate interventions can improve DM self-management behavior, self-efficacy, DM knowledge, QoL, and decreased HbA1c levels.
