Abstract
Objective

This study aims to compare the level of disaster preparedness between providing counseling with audiovisual media and visual media in elementary school students in the Sigi District.

Methods

This research used a quasi-experimental with the pretest–posttest design. Forty-eight respondents were divided into two groups, namely audiovisual media and visual media groups. Respondents were determined by the total quota sampling technique. Data was collected using questionnaires and observation sheets—data analysis using an at-dependent and t-independent test.

Results

The results of the t-dependent test showed that the audiovisual media group had a significant influence on improving preparedness (p=0.000). The visual media group also has a significant influence on improving preparedness (p=0.000). The results of the t-independent test found a significant difference in the level of Preparedness between the audiovisual media group and the visual group, where the audiovisual media group had a greater level of Preparedness than the visual media group (p=0.04).

Conclusion

This shows that the audiovisual media counseling method can have a greater influence on the increase in Preparedness compared to visual media.
