This study aimed to identify the level of motivation to stop of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Addictive Substance (NPAS) patients at Social Home of Pamardi Putra Insyaf in Medan.
MethodsThe study used descriptive method with 37 respondents. Sampling was done by consecutive sampling, which every subject meeting the criteria of inclusion is selected until the required sample size is achieved. Participants in this study are patient who have not dual diagnosis and recurring patient. The data were gathered by using questionnaires on demographic data, and Stage of Change Scale from the National Narcotics Agency. The result of univariate analysis showed that 24 respondents (64.9%) had low motivation to stop NPAS.
ConclusionMotivation to stop NPAS is very important to relapse prevention. Recommendations: Nurses can increase motivation patients to change positive behavior and motivation to get out of problematic behavior and learn adaptive coping mechanism to solve their problems.
