The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of family task towards blood pressure of the elderly with Hypertension.
MethodThe study was conducted by cross-sectional design using questionnaire with eighty elderly hypertension as respondents. Data collection consists of the measurement of blood pressure, questions on characteristic respondents and family health care tasks. Data analyses used for this study were chi-square test and logistic regression.
ResultsThe study found there was correlation between family health tasks with blood pressure of the elderly (p 0.000). The ability of family to take care of the elderly is one of the family task which most contribute on the blood pressure of the elderly (exp (B) 12.497; p 0.049).
ConclusionsFamily health task was importantly performed by families to care for the elderly with hypertension. Family caregiver involvement in caring to the elderly with hypertension is needed to manage the blood pressure of the elderly.
