Este artículo corresponde, con las debidas adecuaciones, al texto de la conferencia que con el título de La Libertad y la Represión impartió el autor en la Real Academia de Ciencias, Bellas Artes y Buenas Letras “Luis Vélez de Guevara” de Écija el día 12 de diciembre de 2007. Trata sobre aspectos de la libertad y la represión en el individuo, fundamentalmente de como esas condiciones son conformadas por el contexto cultural. Parte de ideas y conceptos expresados por Sigmund Freud en “El Malestar en la Cultura” y “Consideraciones de Actualidad sobre la Guerra y la Muerte”, y por Herbert Marcuse en “Eros y Civilización”, pero va más allá con una lectura personal y reflexiones propias, sobre todo en lo concerniente al efecto que la conciencia de la muerte ejerce sobre la libertad humana.
This article corresponds - with the necessary adaptations - to the text from the lecture entitled Freedom and Repression given by the author from the “Luis Vélez de Guevara” Royal Academy of Science, Fine Arts and Humanities in Écija on 12th December 2007. It deals with aspects of freedom and repression in the individual -essentially as to how these conditions are shaped by the cultural context. It puts forward ideas and concepts expressed by Sigmund Freud in “Civilization and its Discontent” and “Thoughts for the Times on War and Death”, and by Herbert Marcuse in “Eros and Civilization,” although it goes beyond an author's own personal reading and reflections, above all in matters concerning the effect that the awareness of death exerts on human freedom.
Artikulu honek hitzaldi bat du abiapuntu; hain zuzen, egileak Ecijako “Luis Velez de Guevara” Zientzien, Arte Ederren eta Letren Errege Akademian, 2007ko abenduaren 12an, “Askatasuna eta Errepresioa” izenburupean eman zuen hitzaldiaren testua. Artikulua gizabanakoaren askatasunari eta errepresioari buruzkoa da, kultur testuinguruak ezaugarri horietan duen eraginari buruzkoa, hain zuzen. Testuaren abiapuntuan, Sigmund Freuden “Ezinegona Kulturan” eta “Gaur Egungo Gogoetak Gerrari eta Heriotzari buruz” eta Herbert Marcuseren “Eros eta Zibilizazioa” obretan adierazitako ideiak eta kontzeptuak daude, baina egilea harago doa, eta bere gogoetak aurkezten dizkigu irakurketa pertsonal baten bitartez, batik bat heriotzaren kontzientziak giza askatasunean duen eraginaren inguruan.
