Presentamos el caso de un anciano de 78 años que ingresó por un síndrome confusional agudo secundario a un estatus epiléptico no convulsivo, confirmado mediante electroencefalograma y que se controló con carbamacepina. Se discute la importancia del diagnóstico temprano de esta patología así como sus consecuencias y pronóstico.
We present the case of a 78-year-old man who was admitted to hospital for acute confusional syndrome secondary to nonconvulsive status epilepticus which was confirmed by electroencephalogram and controlled by carbamazepine. We discuss the importance of an early diagnosis of this disorder as well as its consequences and prognosis.
