Resumen

El objetivo del presente trabajo es conocer la prevalencia y características de los accidentes biológicos de los estudiantes de enfermería durante sus prácticas clínicas, las medidas de profilaxis, tanto de disposición como de exposición y, por último, sus prácticas de riesgo. Se trata de un estudio descriptivo transversal

Los resultados muestran que el 42,2% de los alumnos tuvo algún accidente, principalmente debido a pinchazos (68,97%) y salpicaduras (57,47%). Las prácticas de riesgo más frecuentes son dejar agujas u objetos cortantes en la batea (82,5%), llevar materiales de riesgo en la mano (62,1%) y reencapsular jeringuillas (53,9%)

En conclusión, se observan importantes deficiencias en la seguridad de los alumnos, siendo aún muy elevada la accidentabilidad

The aim of this descriptive, cross-sectional study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of biological-exposure incidents among nursing students during hospital training, as well as to identify preventive measures (regulations and exposure) and risk behavior

The results show that 42.2% of the students were involved in at least one accident. These were mainly due to skin pricks (68.97%) and splashes (57.47%). The most common risk factors were leaving needles or cutting instruments on the tray (82.5%), carrying risk materials by hand (62.1%) and re-sheathing syringes (53.9%)

In conclusion, student safety shows serious deficiencies and the accident rate remainshigh
