The patient informed us that the tumor appeared spontaneously and had no apparent effect in his voice; more importantly, it did not present pain while swallowing or opening/moving his mouth. During the physical examination, an asymmetrically enlarged right tonsil (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>A) was identified, and an incisional biopsy was realized. The microscopic analysis revealed an invasive moderately differentiated nonkeratinizing squamous-cell carcinoma (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>B). Immunohistochemical analysis showed positive nuclear and cytoplasmic expression for p16 (<a class="elsevierStyleCrossRef" href="#fig0005">Fig. 1</a>C), correspondent to a HPV infection. The patient received treatment based in induction chemotherapy, immunotherapy, completed with surgical resection of the oropharyngeal tumor.
