Presented is our experience in the study of congenital cardiopathies and 2-year post-surgical follow-up with Magnetic Resonance (MR) and three dimensional angiogram (3D MR angiogram).

Primarily evaluated are aspects relating to technical realization, contrast media administration, and anaesthetic preparation in pediatric cases.

There were no complications detected after administration of gadopentate dimeglumine, and only two cases of transitory diffuse cutaneous erythema were observed without increase in body temperature.

MR, and particularly MR angiogram with gadopentate dimeglumine, permits the making of suitable diagnoses and post-surgical follow-ups of congenital cardiopathies, in many cases avoiding the risks inherent in ionizing radiations and cardiac catheterism.
