Resumen

Este artículo pretende ofrecer información clara y concisa sobre el síndrome de Usher, tanto a padres afectados como a profesionales, con el objetivo de conseguir entre todos un diagnóstico precoz que minimice los efectos del síndrome –a través de una intervención educativa temprana y eficaz– y garantice una mayor calidad de vida a todos los afectados desde la misma infancia. Puntos clave del artículo: definición, tipología, signos que pueden alertar a la familia o al personal escolar sobre la presencia de retinitis pigmentosa, implicaciones psico-educativas y asociaciones/organizaciones nacionales e internacionales relacionadas con el síndrome de Usher.

Summary

This article intend to provide brief and clear information on the Usher Syndrome specially addressed to people with Usher Syndrome, to their relatives and to professionals working in the fields of deafness, blindness and deafblindness. The aim is to get an early detection of the Syndrome which minimize its effects and ensure a greater quality of life to every affected person from his/her earlier childhood. The main contents of the article are: definition, typology, sign that can alert relatives or the school staff of the presence of Retinitis Pigmentosa, educational implications and National-International Contacts.
