Dear colleagues and friends. Yet another year has gone by. Here at the Annals of Hepatology we are taking a moment to look back and take note of what has been accomplished through the collaboration and joint efforts.
I would like to take this opportunity to share some interesting developments in the Annals of Hepatology over the last year.
First of all, the number of original manuscripts increased from 3 to 5 as did the number of case reports which went from 1 to 3. Annals of Hepatology now is included in some other scientific databases, such as EMBASE and SIIC-Database Argentina. Another notable achievement is that the number of U.S. and European authors has increased.
As Dr. Arias said in his insightful editorial on the first five years of Hepatology,1 we have experienced both good and bad during the early years of publishing; from being named the Copernicus Index Journal of the Week to the scarcity of contributions from Latin American hepatologists. At this time Annals of Hepatology faces the challenge of improving its quality as a useful source of information to specialists around the world. We expect that by its 5th year of publication Annals of Hepatology will be considered one of the important journals in this field.
Much of this is due to the valuable support of readers and collaborators. Without you, Annals of Hepatology would not have the success it has enjoyed these past four years.
