A meta-analysis suggested that the risk for posterior-circulation stroke was roughly as high as the risk for anterior-circulation stroke. At the same time, the authors found that it was difficult to identify VBI upon routine physical examination with modalities such as carotid artery ultrasonography. The aim of this study was to investigate the possibility of FGF23 as a rapid biomarker for risk stratification of patients with acute CI and screen patients at high risk of CI.
- •
The study assessed the characteristics of patients with CI and found that the severity of VBI was a significant factor. Furthermore, serum FGF23 levels were significantly higher in patients with CI and significantly associated with NIHSS score on the 7th day after diagnosis. It is suggested that serum FGF23 level at admission may be a predictor of short-term outcomes in patients with CI.
- •
In the present study, FGF23 was a potential diagnostic indicator of CI with 79.8 % sensitivity and 80.3 % specificity. The ROC curve results indicated that serum FGF23 levels are a potential diagnostic biomarker for CI.
- •
This study provides important insights into the potential clinical utility of FGF23 as a diagnostic biomarker for CI and VBI.

This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of art therapy on reducing anxiety symptoms among children and adolescents. A comprehensive search was conducted across several databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, PsychINFO, The Cochrane Library, CNKI, and Wan Fang Data, resulting in the inclusion of six studies with a total of 422 participants. The findings demonstrated a significant decrease in anxiety symptoms through art therapy interventions, with a Standardized Mean Difference (SMD) of -1.42, 95% Confidence Interval (-2.33, -0.51), p < 0.002. This indicates that art therapy is an effective method for treating anxiety in this demographic. Moreover, the analysis revealed that art therapy had a more pronounced effect on state anxiety than on trait anxiety, suggesting that art therapy may be particularly beneficial in helping children and adolescents manage anxiety in specific situations. These insights underscore the importance of integrating art therapy into mental health care, especially for managing anxiety among young individuals, and have significant implications for clinical practice and policy making.

Left atrial appendage occlusion is a surgical procedure considered as an alternative for populations with contraindications or failure of anticoagulation.
- •
Based on the studies, it was evaluated that, among the consensual metrics (CHADS-VASC and HAS-BLED), the degree of thromboembolic risk and bleeding used was variable, not clarifying the profile of patients who would benefit from the occlusion procedure.
- •
Most of the studies evaluated are non-inferior, comparing the occlusion of the atrial appendage of patients on anticoagulation with vitamin K inhibitors, with no contraindication to the use of this group of drugs. There are ongoing studies, with data to be published with the use of new oral anticoagulants (direct inhibitors), to compare the safety of patients undergoing atrial appendage occlusion.

There is also a lack of evidence related to the occlusion devices, especially regarding long-term use data, since when positioned, it can cause anatomical and physiological changes. Also, there is more than one model of the device with differences between them, suggesting the need for comparative studies.
