Más datosThis study explored the facilitators and barriers self-management of patients’ early stages chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study used a descriptive phenomenological qualitative design, eight participants were recruited using a purposive technique sampling. The data collection instruments employed included in-depth interviews using semi-structured interview guidelines, field notes, and tape recorders. The Colaizzi method was used for data analysis. The results were two themes (1) facilitator of self-management: health status, self-motivation, and independence in activities; (2) barriers of self-management: personal characteristics of the patients, has a miss-perception about the disease, dependency and not compliance. This study identified facilitators and barriers of self-management patients with early stages of CKD. Therefore, nurses have an important role in conducting a comprehensive health assessment.
