Colonic diverticulosis, defined as the presence of one or more diverticula in the colon, is a common condition, with a prevalence that increases with age and a number of risk factors such as a diet that is low in fibre.1,2 Uncomplicated diverticula are often silent with no specific clinical picture3,4; but that does not mean they cannot surprise us, as can be seen in this case, which could even be an endoscopic emoji (Fig. 1).
