With great pleasure we present this first special supplement for the Colombian Journal of Rheumatology, after having agreed between the Editorial Committee and the Board of Directors of the Association, the activation of this modality of monographs and with which we intend to increase the number of publications of the Journal from 4 to 6 per year. It is worthwhile to mention that our Journal has had an interesting growth and in order to have a special dynamics, it is very convenient to have two supplements every year, dedicated to the update on the diseases that we usually deal with in our daily practice.
In this occasion we have decided to start with the special issue on systemic sclerosis with the support of colleagues who have been interested in the disease; and the initiative was raised after the course in the city of Montería. We seek to have a comprehensive approach of the most relevant topics of the disease which give an account of the undoubted advances that are made in the fields of diagnosis and treatment for the best approach of the patients.
With this, we hope that all our readers will have a meaningful approach of all the topics covered, seeking to close the gaps in clinical heterogeneity that we frequently see when addressing patients with this condition. Also, special thanks to all the authors who contributed to this issue with their great dedication and time devoted to each chapter.
