Resumen

Se lleva a cabo una revisión acerca de las ventajas que la actividad física genera en la persona mayor, especialmente a nivel de su función cardíaca.

Se exponen algunas consideraciones sobre la forma y los tipos de ejercicios más adecuados, así como sus indicaciones en cuanto a intensidad y forma.

Se enfatizan los beneficios que tanto a nivel psicológico como físico conlleva esta actividad.

Summary

A review has been done on the advantages generated by physical activity in the elderly person, especially regarding their heart function.

Some considerations on the most adequate form and types of exercise as well as their indications in regards to intensity and form are presented.

Both the psychological as well as physical benefits arising from this activity are emphasized.
