Este sumario está en progreso pero sus artículos están finalizados y son citables.

Medicine and innovation; these terms have always been inseparable. Advances in biomedical science, data science, engineering, and technology are leading to high-paced innovation with the potential to transform health and medicine. A significant proportion of the current technological developments in respiratory disorders originate from various areas of information technology. The spectrum ranges from smartphone apps to be used in daily life or patient care to the use of artificial intelligence in screening and early detection of diseases, as well as in diagnostic and therapeutic decision-making. On the other hand, the emergence of new endoscopic and surgical techniques is accompanied by improvements in simulation to be proactive in the culture of risk reduction and improved patient safety. The main objectives of this special issue are to ensure that patients receive quality service that offers health value and to provide innovative tools to improve the management and health outcomes of patients with respiratory diseases, all based on the best scientific evidence available. To this end, topics such as the use of artificial intelligence or information technologies, the role of simulation, and the emergence of new diagnostic and therapeutic techniques will be updated.
